Hello, I’m Sophie Landmann
Chartered Counselling Psychologist & Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie
My mission is to make mental health an equal to physical health! Imagine a world where we can share our struggles and emotions openly and without fear of stigmatization. To me it starts with accepting that we all struggle with our mental health at times – just like we get a runny nose when seasons change – and we seek professional help when the runny nose is a little too persistent.
Born in Munich, Germany, I spent my childhood here and completed my first degree. From an early age, I was fascinated by different perspectives and cultures, which led me to live and study in the US and the UK and ultimately get married interculturally. I therefore have first-hand experience in both the riches and the pitfalls of international life, which might be the reason for bringing you here today. I have lived through challenges such as home sickness, workplace stress and intercultural relationships and I can help you build skills to help you adjust, improve your communication and enhance your cultural competences.
With extensive experience in the field of disorganized eating, I understand the underlying struggles such as stress and anxiety, perfectionism, and the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. I also recognize the importance of family dynamics, which is why I focus not only on individuals but also offer family and parent coaching. Additionally, I offer mental health counselling for SIBO, IMO, and IBS, which are often overlooked physical reasons for food-related difficulties that can lead to fear of food, malnutrition, severe pain, anxiety and perpetual stress.
Following my mission to make mental health an equal to physical health, I had the privilege of being appointed as the Director of Services for Germany at one of the largest international Employee Wellbeing Companies. In my dual role as Director and Prinicpal Psychologist, I oversaw the implementation and adaptation of all psychological services for the German-speaking market. Although our paths diverged in 2024, I remain steadfast in my belief that mental health initiatives within companies are crucial for destigmatizing mental health, and this work continues to be a core part of my services.
With my doctoral training as a Counselling Psychologist, I offer a new perspective on mental health: I focus on your unique experience rather than fitting your difficulties into a category. Therefore, I do not diagnose, nor use labels – unless this makes you feel safe. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic & Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Approaches, and Systemic and Family Therapy. Yet, instead of focusing on just one school of thought, we will work collaboratively to identify which therapeutic tools and exercises fit best for you.
